To store data about persons and their relations, Brother's
Keeper (BK5w) is in use. This program is simple to use and produces
graphical sheets with tree-likecharts about ancestors and descendats. Single
A4 sheets may be connected with each other after printing to create big
charts.
To put graphical information on the web, charts are generated in pdf format with Abobe PDF Writer. Using this format the viewed and printed sheets look exactly the same. Their file sizes is also moderate.
Manual work is unfortunately needed to update the graphical output after
modifications in BK5w database, thus the number of available charts
onthe web is very limited. It is also not possible to start any database
related actions (like queries or chart generation) from the web page. To
override those limitations some SQL-database should be used instead of
mouse-manipulated single user Windows application.
